Maryland State and D.C. AFL-CIO Announce 2016 Primary Election Endorsements

“The Maryland State and D.C. AFL-CIO proudly supports the endorsed candidates and incumbent members of Congress because of their strong commitment to working families in Maryland, the District of Columbia and across the nation,” stated Fred D. Mason, Jr., President of the Maryland State and D.C. AFL-CIO.

 We will do everything necessary to ensure their victories in the April 26, 2016 Primary Election. The Maryland State and D.C. AFL-CIO represents over 350,000 members in over 500 local unions. Endorsements are as follows:

U.S. Senate (Maryland) :  

No Recommendation

 

U.S. Congress (District of Columbia) :

DC-At-Large        Endorsement – Eleanor Holmes Norton

 

U.S. Congress (Maryland) :

District 1             Endorsement – Jim Ireton

District 2            Endorsement – C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger

District 3            Endorsement – John Sarbanes

District 4            No Recommendation

District 5            Endorsement - Steny Hoyer

District 6            No Recommendation

District 7            Endorsement – Elijah Cummings

District 8            No Recommendation

 

ENDORSEMENT MOTIONS KEY

 

* “NO RECOMMENDATION”

Requires a majority (50% +1) of the votes cast, and affiliates may support the candidate of their choice.

“ENDORSEMENT' *

Requires a two-thirds (2/3) majority of the votes cast, and all affiliates are expected to support that candidate.

* “LIMITED ENDORSEMENT”

Requires a two-thirds (2/3) majority of the votes cast.

* “NO ENDORSEMENT”

Requires a two-thirds (2/3) majority of the votes cast, and all affiliates are expected not to offer support to any candidate in that race.
